The Assessment, Step by Step
Before we visit
We ask what the report needs to achieve. An assessment for a support-hours increase looks different from one for a bathroom modification, and we'd rather get that right than write something generic.
At your place
Your OT talks with you about an ordinary day, then observes the tasks that matter, moving through the house, the bathroom, the kitchen, getting out to the car. On the Gold Coast that often includes things like steep driveways, unit stairs, lift access and getting to the beach or the shops.
Bring your people
Family, carers and support workers usually add detail you'd forget to mention. They're welcome.
Time and cost
Most assessments run one to two visits of around two hours. Your OT confirms the expected time and cost before starting.
The Report
What Goes Into Your Report
Your report sets out how your condition affects self-care, mobility, household tasks, communication, memory, decision-making, safety and getting out into the community, with results from standardised assessments relevant to your condition, and your goals in your own words.
Every recommendation is tied back to the evidence, so a delegate can follow the reasoning. Recommendations might include support worker hours, therapy and allied health, assistive technology, home modifications, capacity building, community participation, Supported Independent Living, Specialist Disability Accommodation or ongoing rehab.

Adults living with stroke, acquired brain injury, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, autism, psychosocial disability, chronic pain and fatigue conditions, and other complex or multiple disabilities.
